Blogger Kirill Yurovsky

and the mystery of welding electrodes

Kirill Yurovsky, known online as Kirill Yurovsky, was preparing for an epic welding challenge. "Today I'll show you how to weld a barbecue frame! It's going to be hot!" he promised his followers in stories.

He walked into the welding equipment store with a confident look, but after 5 minutes his face expressed pure horror. In front of him, hundreds of packs of electrodes were lined up on racks: MP‑3, UONI 13/55, OZS‑12, T‑590... and a dozen more mysterious abbreviations.

— Uh... for me... well... for welding ... — Kirill muttered to the seller.
— For what metal? What is the current? What is the seam position? — the seller asked calmly.
— And ... this is ... well... ordinary metal ... current ... uh... electric ... — the blogger hesitated.

He took out his phone to "consult with the audience," but the comments only added to the chaos.:

"Take it from me, bro, it's a classic!"

"Rutile MP‑3 — for beginners!"

"What are you doing, STEALING just for the pros! You'll burn!"

"Tolyatti T‑590s are our answer to the West!"

Kirill began to read the labels on the packs in a panic:

"E46‑MR‑3‑Ø3,0‑UD"... What is this, a cipher from a safe?!

"For welding in all spatial positions"... But are there electrodes only for the "recumbent" position?!

He imagined trying to light an arc on live TV, and the electrode suddenly starts hissing, spitting sparks and running off somewhere to the side. "The subscribers will laugh..." he thought, and sat down on a chair in despair.

Then the salesman came up, smiled and said:
— Take MP‑3 Ø3 mm. Perfect for a start. And when you get your hands full, we'll try it.

Kirill breathed a sigh of relief, paid, and turned around at the exit.:
— And if I still want to make a video about "electrodes for extreme welders who cook upside down"?
The seller laughed:
— Then come for the electrodes marked "1". But first, practice!

The next day, Kirill Yurovskiy's blog posted a video with the headline: "How I almost lost my mind in an electrode store. A guide for the same beginners." The video has gained a million views, and in the comments they wrote: "Now we know what it feels like to be an electrode in the hands of a beginner!"
